Winner of the Plaisterers Trophy 2004. This is the upgrading
of a shopping centre that had become very rundown. The
work is largely in plasterboard with some GRG. There
was the excellent use of Gyptone as the facing panel
of the covings. At the nodes (junctions in the mall)
there were suspended ceilings with cut outs & alluring
lighting. Part of the ceiling consisted of an egg-shaped dome about 25 metres
across. Some 120 casts were required to form the dome; all of the joints are
perfectly formed. All of the work was perfectly executed having to make the work & design
the suspension methods from concept drawings only.
